PicoSure

What Is PicoSure?

PicoSure is currently the latest, medically advanced aesthetic laser offered. With over 4 billion social media impressions, this state-of-the-art laser uses revolutionary technology to deliver energy in trillionths of a second called “picoseconds”. The ultra-short bursts of light reduces the amount of heat delivered to the skin to target pigment without harming the surrounding skin.

PicoSure is the world’s first picosecond laser and is an FDA approved medical device safe to use for all skin types. PicoSure differs from all other lasers currently available as it incurs minimal thermal damage to the targeted area. It is a fast, easy, and non-invasive treatment causing less post-treatment side effects.

What does PicoSure treat?

PicoSure is a quick and easy non-surgical, non-invasive laser skin treatment that focuses on your problem areas whether it’s brown spots, pigmented lesions such as moles, lentigo, birthmarks, or acne scars, and can be used to treat many areas of the body including the chest or décolleté, face, hands, legs, and more.

PicoSure helps provide your skin with a more youthful appearance by erasing unwanted pigment, age spots and freckles caused by sun damage faster than ever before with minimal to no discomfort or downtime.

It is the only laser treatment that is FDA approved to treat melasma.

In addition to that, Picosure has proven to be effective in tattoo removal.

How does PicoSure work?

This laser delivers extremely short pulses of light, penetrating deep within the skin layers. The tiny particles that make up the unwanted pigment of the skin vibrate and shatter. As a natural reaction to the laser pulses, the body will automatically repair the damaged cells with new and healthy collagen and elastin. Both collagen and elastin are essential to smoothing the skin and create a more youthful result. PicoSure is designed to produce less heat damage to the surrounding areas which leads to a faster recovery time.

What is the treatment process?

Typically, this procedure may require at least 3-4 treatments to reach desired results; however, the number of treatments is determined by what is being treated. Our laser expert will examine and customize your treatments to your personal specifications. Numbing is not typically needed; however, numbing cream is an option and can be applied prior to treatment if requested.

How long is the downtime?

Patients can resume normal daily activities and work as soon as 1 hour after treatment. Patients may experience side effects from the treatment including redness and mild swelling. These post-treatment side effects typically resolve in a few hours, with some cases lingering up to 24 hours. There is no need to miss work or leisure activities. Make-up, moisturizes and sun screens may be applied immediately following treatment if desired.

How long will the results last for?

PicoSure treatment for age spots, freckles, sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles last for a long time. Maximum results are best seen 12 weeks after treatment but can be noticed as early as 4-6 weeks. Although everyday wear and tear and sun exposure continually cause damage to the skin over time. Due to this reason, patients usually come back once or twice per year for maintenance treatments to prevent the accumulation of pigment and slow the appearance of wrinkles.
