Temporal Brow Lift
Overview
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, helps improve the appearance of wrinkles above the eyes and allows for a more refreshed and youthful appearance. The upper region of the face plays a huge role in an aging face. As we age, there is excess tissue that forms at the forehead which has an effect on facial expressions. Excess sagging skin can cause the brow to look heavily furrowed which can cause a person to look tired, worried or angry. By removing excess skin and tissue in the forehead with repositioning of the underlying muscles and tissues, it will correct deep wrinkles and allow for a smoother contour of the face.
Surgical Procedure
A temporal brow lift is performed under local or general anesthesia and may last 1.5-2 hours. A temporal brow lift involves about a 1 inch long incision made just above each temple, right behind the hairline. Through these incisions, the tissues of the outer brow area will be lifted and repositioned. The incision is closed with sutures and staples that will remain in place for 1 week. Patients may expect moderate swelling and bruising immediately after surgery.
