Neck Liposuction / Submental Liposuction
Submental Liposuction is also referred to as Double Chin Liposuction or Neck Liposuction. This is a great treatment option for both men and women who have less jawline definition due to an accumulation of submental fat. Excess fat below the chin produces the appearance of a double chin, which can minimize an individual’s natural facial angles. Submental liposuction is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that permanently removes stubborn fat under the neck and chin resulting in a more defined jawline. The general recovery time is about 2 weeks.
PROCEDURE
Submental liposuction is performed under general anesthesia in our operating room. The procedure usually lasts approximately 30-60 minutes. Submental liposuction involves three tiny incisions, about 2 to 3 mm each, made in three discrete areas along the neck. Fat cells under the chin and neck are safely removed with a small tube known as a microcannula. This technique is safe and leads to a more contoured jawline with minimal scarring. After the procedure, patients can expect mild swelling and bruising. Patients may return home the same day as their surgery.

How long is the recovery time for Submental Liposuction?
About 1-2 weeks.
How big is the scar?
Three tiny incisions of 2-3 mm each are made in discrete areas along the neck. Once healed, there is minimal scarring.
Will I still have excess skin after the liposuction?
Liposuction only removes the fat in the designated areas. In order to remove excess skin, a neck/facelift may be required to achieve one’s desired appearance.
Who would be a good candidate for Submental Liposuction?
Both men and women can benefit from submental liposuction.
At which age should I consider submental liposuction?
Any individual with good standing health can receive submental liposuction. Our office requires all patients to receive lab tests and medical clearance from their primary doctor before any surgery.
